Sandi Thom has teamed up with Harpoon for a new version of her global hit single, I Wish I Was A Punk Rocker (With Flowers In My Hair).
Originally released in 2005, the track finally broke through in 2006 and topped the charts worldwide, including in the UK where it knocked Gnarls Barkley’s Crazy from the summit.
Now, 18 years after its first release, the track has been remixed by the Aussie DJ and, according to Sandi, “brought back to life” for 2023.
She told Australia’s ‘The Morning Show’: “It’s brilliant. It’s like a completely different version from the original.
“So it was great for me to be able to go in and rework it and revamp it and bring it back to life.”

Last year, the Lonely Girl singer announced plans to release ‘Wanderlust’, a brand new album of original material, following 2019’s ‘Ghosts’.
Teasing a track from the project, titled Warpaint, which was “inspired by the time I spent in the Middle East working as a humanitarian in the animal rescue community,” she added: “It wasn’t easy. It was bloody difficult. I faced a lot of challenges. One in particular last year that pushed me to my limits.
“I’m excited to share this song and the story behind it. I like to think of it as laughing in the face of adversity, having the courage to stand your ground and ultimately triumphing over darkness.”
A release date for ‘Wanderlust’ has yet to be confirmed.
