Rozalla has released an upbeat rendition of The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire) as her 2023 holiday single.
The dance superstar has teamed up with Matt Pop for a reworked version of the winter warmer, which is available now across digital platforms.
Also included in the bundle is an alternate remix from Pete Ware, along with a new ‘Festive Swing’ mix of her classic hit Everybody’s Free (To Feel Good).
The single is also available on CD via the Energise Records store.
The Queen of Rave lit up the charts in the early 1990s with her club anthem and went on to enjoy global success, including joining Michael Jackson on the European leg of his ‘Dangerous’ tour.
Celebrating the 30th anniversary of her debut LP ‘Everybody’s Free’, Rozalla recently told Retro Pop about her time with the King of Pop: “That was incredible. I think about that from time to time and, of course, my husband doesn’t let me forget it.
“Sometimes he’ll joke when we’re watching another act that’s performing on stage, he’ll lean over and say, ‘They’re really good, but did they support Michael Jackson? Don’t think so…’,” she laughed.
“Honestly, I just think to myself, that was one of the biggest highlights of my career and it forever will be.”
During the trek, the pair met “a couple of times” and Rozalla remembered the pop icon being “really nice,” revealing he even asked her for advice when he was forced to cancel a series of shows due to vocal problems.
“We were taking pictures on this one day and I was thanking him for choosing me, and then he’s like, ‘How do you look after your voice Rozalla? Because I’m struggling’,” she shared.
“I’m like, ‘What?! You’re Michael Jackson and you’re asking me…’ I’m saying this all in my head, you know…”
