Róisín Murphy is back with her new single CooCool.
The track is a collaboration with producer DJ Koze and is set to feature on her upcoming sixth solo album – her first for the Ninja Tune label.
She says: “Ostensibly a fragile little flower yet it has great hidden strength at the roots. There’s classic virtuosity and a lightness of touch, while DJ Koze’s hyper-modern production makes it bounce and glide. It’s a stupidly romantic little love poem.
‘This thing is way beyond any kind of parody’. Everything in this song is true and playful. Can we fall in love and retain our sense of humour? ‘Embrace your inner child!’ Timeless, ageless, unavoidable love.”
According to a press release, Róisín’s new project will arrive later this year. She will play a headline show at London’s Royal Albert Hall on May 11.
The musician most recently released her fifth LP ‘Róisín Machine’ and its sister record ‘Crooked Machine’, with the former featuring the singles Murphy’s Law and Narcissus.
In a review of the album, RETROPOP called ‘Róisín Machine’ “a masterclass for those in her shadow in hedonistic, dance floor-ready, feel-good anthems”.
