Rod Stewart sounds invigorated on his latest record’ The Tears of Hercules’.
The album is the rocker’s 31st overall and comes three years after his previous release, ‘Blood Red Roses’, topped the UK charts back in 2018.
He sticks with a tried and tested formula that fans will lap up every time and the result is the result is classic Rod.
Opening with lead single One More Time, the musician harkens back to his lothario days as he sings of reigniting a former flame – but it’s not all echoes of the past.
Now in his mid-70s, the singer-songwriter speaks from the heart, declaring his love for wife Penny Lancaster on I Can’t Imagine, while Precious Memories looks back at valuable time spent with those closest to him.
Uptempo rocker Born to Boogie is a fitting tribute to late T. Rex frontman Marc Bolan.
Some tracks pack more of a punch than others, which occasionally feel undercooked compared to Rod’s latest studio offerings.
But six decades into his career, we’re just happy to have him back and doing what he does best.
‘The Tears of Hercules’ is available on CD and vinyl.
