Robert O’Connor is back with a hi-NRG cover of ABBA star Agnetha Fältskog’s 1987 ballad The Last Time.
Due for release on on May 27, the same day ‘ABBA Voyage’ opens its doors at London’s ABBA Arena, his new version of the single was produced by frequent collaborator Gareth Shortland.
“I’ve always had a fascination with uptempo pop songs that make you feel euphoric, but actually have the saddest lyrics,” says Robert.
“Benny & Björn excelled at this, and I wanted to tap into that”.
Discussing his recording of the song, which features vocal production by Richey McCourt, he adds: “Gareth and I have a love for the pure pop music that we grew up listening to, and we bonded over that.
“I think the joy we have making this music translates into the tracks – and I think people respond to that!”
The new single comes six months after Robert released his Scandipop gem Been & Gone.
