He’s about to release his 13th solo album ‘Britpop‘, but Robbie Williams is already looking to the future – and it includes Take That.
The ‘Love My Life’ singer shot to fame as one-fifth of the boyband, who released their debut single ‘Do What U Like’ in 1991, before quitting the act four years later to go it alone.
Both he and the group – currently starring Gary Barlow, Mark Owen and Howard Donald – are releasing new material this year, and while promoting his latest offering Robbie discussed the possibility of the band reuniting.
Speaking on the BBC Radio 2 Breakfast Show, he ruled out appearing on Take That’s 2026 ‘The Circus Live’ tour, which will see them recreate their record-breaking 2009 tour, ‘The Circus Live’.
However, he refused to rule out future reunions with the group, which originally also featured Jason Orange.
Recalling being impressed with the band’s 2009 show, the ‘Candy’ hitmaker said: “You know, Gaz came round to the house in Los Angeles and he had a copy of the show and he played it [for] me, and I just stood – literally stood, didn’t sit – and watched it spellbound.”
“[I] loved it, and I was like, ‘I want back in’. And then the boys are redoing ‘The Circus’ tour, and it’s a great idea, and it’s caught everybody’s imaginations, and the tickets are doing incredibly well.”
When questioned by host Scott Mills on whether he could appear at any of the band’s upcoming dates, he replied: “Not right now. I’m sure we will ride again, but it’s not in my plans right now.”
