Rihanna is reportedly “in talks” to headline Glastonbury for the first time.
The Diamonds singer is said to have been approached to close out the 2023 edition of the annual event at Worthy Farm, Somerset.
“Next year’s festival would be just the right timing for her. She is a huge name for Worthy Farm and would be the perfect addition to the line-up,” sources tell The Sun.
Organisers Emily Eavis and her father, Michael Eavis, have yet to comment on the speculation.
Rihanna recently returned to music with Lift Me Up – her first new solo music in six years – from the soundtrack to the forthcoming Marvel movie, ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’.
The track, which serves as a tribute to late actor Chadwick Boseman, debuted at No. 3 in the UK following its release, marking Rihanna’s highest chart entry in the region for a decade.
Rihanna released her most recent album, ‘Anti’, in 2016, and has long been teasing fans about a new project.
It comes following the news that Rihanna will headline the Super Bowl LVII Halftime Show in February 2023, with executives from the NFL, Roc Nation, and Apple Music sharing the announcement in a statement.
“Rihanna is a generational talent, a woman of humble beginnings who has surpassed expectations at every turn,” said JAY-Z. “A person born on the small island of Barbados who became one of the most prominent artists ever. Self-made in business and entertainment.”
NFL Head of Music, Seth Dudowsky, added: “We are thrilled to welcome Rihanna to the Apple Music Super Bowl Halftime Show stage. Rihanna is a once-in-a-generation artist who has been a cultural force throughout her career.
“We look forward to collaborating with Rihanna, Roc Nation and Apple Music to bring fans another historic Halftime Show performance.”
