Queen’s classic ‘Greatest Hits’ album is set to return to the top of the UK Albums Chart thanks to its 40th anniversary reissue.
The 40th anniversary edition of the 1981 LP is available on CD, Vinyl LP and Cassette, with standard and special editions, including alternate artwork and five-colour variants of the limited edition tape.
And according to Official Charts Company data, 86 per cent of this week’s sales come from physical formats of the re-release, placing it ahead of the competition for the top spot on Friday’s countdown.
Should it retain the top position, ‘Greatest Hits’ will spend its fifth week at No. 1 and 953rd week on the Top 100 of the UK Albums Chart overall.
The LP, which spent four consecutive weeks at the top following its November 1981 debut, also holds onto its title of the best-selling album of all time in the UK.
In 2019, the record, featuring hits like Don’t Stop Me Now, We Are The Champions and Somebody to Love, became the first album ever to sell 6,000,000 copies.
