Prince’s band New Power Generation are hoping to get back out on the road at the tail end of this year.
The musicians were forced to cancel their spring dates due to the coronavirus crisis, but they’re hoping to be back with a run of shows beginning on 17 September (20).
“We do not take any of this lightly, and hope to be a part of bringing some joy to Prince fans as the country begins to reopen,” said lead vocalist MacKenzie.
“We know there are many unknowns and we will not do anything to put our fans (or ourselves) in harm’s way. But if it is indeed safe to proceed, we will do so in the most energetic and funky spirit possible.”
The group will also offer meet-and-greets via their website – but tickets will be limited to 25 fans per show, and everyone will be required to wear face masks.
The month-long tour will be the NPG’s first since they reunited in 2016 following Prince’s death.
The band backed Prince on the albums Diamonds and Pearls and Love Symbol, as well as two live albums, One Nite Alone … Live! and C-Note.
