Phil Collins is planning to give up touring after Genesis’ forthcoming reunion.
‘The Last Domino?’ trek begins in Birmingham on Monday, September 20 and will continue through mid-October, before heading stateside for shows in November/December.
And for fans who rushed to secure tickets to see the group perform, it could be their last chance, as he believes the dates will serve as a farewell tour.
“This English and American tour, that will be enough for me,” he tells Mojo, following confirmation that his son Nic will replace him on drums during the show due to health issues.
However, bandmate Tony Banks has other thoughts on the future of Genesis, offering: “I think it depends a little bit how it goes.
“How Phil stands up to it all. How the audience receive it, and how we all feel about it, really.”
Despite not drumming on tour, Collins will still provide vocals, after previously admitting to being “frustrated” by the situation.
“I’m kind of physically challenged a bit, which is very frustrating because I’d love to be playing up there with my son,” he told BBC Breakfast.
“But, you know, I mean, I can barely hold a stick with this hand, so there are certain physical things that get in the way.”
The group’s latest release ‘The Last Domino?’ – a collection of the band’s best-loved songs, including their biggest hits and legendary album cuts – is out now on 2CD and 4LP vinyl.
