Peter Andre is serving a slice of ‘90s nostalgia on his new album with a sequel to his massive hit Mysterious Girl.
The star originally released the track in 1996 and, eight years later – following an appearance on ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ – took the tune to the top of the UK charts.
Now, as he prepares to return with a brand new album, Peter has reportedly recorded a counterpart to his iconic tune, titled Island Girl.
Sources tell The Sun: “Peter got back into the studio in lockdown and has written tracks with some really talented people.
“He’s been inspired by reggae and pop sounds for the songs and the album is very nearly finished.
“Island Girl is looking likely to be the lead single and he is now in talks with two record labels to secure a deal to get it all released.
“He has been doing his old hits on stage for years and has shows scheduled for the summer but now he’s raring to give the charts another crack.
“Pete can understand why some may be sceptical about his music but he reckons people will be impressed when they hear it.”
It’s been six years since the star released his 2015 Swing covers collection ‘Come Fly With Me’, which included Rat Pack classics, plus three new songs and a Swing version of Mysterious Girl.
The new album looks to have a handful of collaborations, with the Flava star recently confirming work is “well under way” along with guest musicians including Kaiser Chiefs star Ricky Wilson and rapper Lady Leshurr.
And that’s not all; Peter has also been collaborating with Take That frontman Gary Barlow, after they struck up a friendship during his virtual ‘Crooner Sessions’ gigs last year.
“Gary and I did one of his ‘Crooner Sessions’ last year in the first lockdown and afterwards I sent him songs I had written and he basically told me to get my bum back in the studio and release some music,” he said.
“So now I’m working on two projects – one album that I plan to release soon, and another separate project with Gary. Watch this space!”
