Pet Shop Boys were due to celebrate their incredible catalogue of hits on stage in 2020 – but the pandemic has forced the group to delay their celebrations by two years.

The electropop duo was originally due to kick off the trek on May 1, 2020 in Berlin – where they wrote and recorded the majority of their most recent album, Hotspot.

Ahead of the jaunt, Neil Tennent and Chris Lowe opted to delay the shows by 12 months – with new dates slated for May of this year – but the pause wasn’t enough to see the back of the coronavirus and make live concerts safe.

In a statement on social media, the pair confirmed the tour was no longer going ahead, announcing a new set of shows for May, 2022.

“Pet Shop Boys have rescheduled the dates for their Dreamworld: The Greatest Hits Live tour which will now take place in 2022.” they wrote.

The new dates see the Pet Shop Boys kick off the jaunt in mainland Europe, before commencing the UK leg of the tour in Manchester, with a total eight shows across the country.

“The tour, which had already been rescheduled once due to the continuing coronavirus pandemic, will see the duo play UK and European shows next summer as part of their first ever greatest hits tour,” they added.

Tickets for the original shows remain valid for the new dates

In addition to the Dreamworld shows, Pet Shop Boys are set to hit the road in the US and Canada with New Order as part of their Unity Tour, which kicks off on September 18, 2021 in Toronto and conclude with two nights at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles on October 15 and 16.
