Pet Shop Boys’ second album Actually and The Human League’s seminal record Dare are among the UK’s Top 20 albums from the ’80s.
Fans of BBC Radio 2’s Sounds of the 80s show have been voting for the greatest album of the decade in a mammoth poll, which coincides with Saturday’s National Album Day.
While U2 snagged the No. 1 spot, the Top 20 was packed with pop classics, with Michael Jackson’s Thriller scoring highest in fourth place. Dare comes in at six, with ABC’s The Lexicon Of Love and Prince’s Purple Rain charting at nine and 10, respectively.
The run of pop classics continues with Kate Bush and Hounds Of Love and 11 and Duran Duran in 12th place with Rio. The Big Chair is 13th.
Frankie Goes To Hollywood’s Welcome To The Pleasuredome is at 17 and, rounding out the Top 20, is George Michael’s classic Faith and Pet Shop Boys with Actually at 20.
