Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark have shared the film-noir ballad Veruschka as the latest single from ‘Bauhaus Staircase’.
The 14th album from the synth-pop group – featuring the singles Bauhaus Staircase and Slow Train – arrives on October 27 and, according to Andy McCluskey and Paul Humphreys, could be their final release.
Of the track, which exemplifies the duo’s determination to continue taking risks, McCluskey says: “My attitude is like I say in this song: if you’re too afraid to jump off the cliff, you’ll never learn to fly.
“We couldn’t keep saying: ‘It’s not going to work.’ You have to keep trying, to see where you end up.”

Out October 27, ‘Bauhaus Staircase’ arrives as the band’s most explicitly political record and the crowning achievement of their desire to be both Stockhausen and ABBA – born from the impetus to kickstart new explorations during the pandemic.
As Andy admits: “I rediscovered the creative power of total boredom.”
“I’m very happy with what we’ve done on this record,” he adds of the 12-track record. “I’m comfortable if this is OMD’s last statement.”
‘Bauhaus Staircase’ is available to pre-order now.
