Olivia Rodrigo has responded to Courtney Love’s criticism of the artwork for her debut album ‘Sour’.
The Hole star hit out at the creative direction of the shoot and accused the Driver’s License singer of ripping off her group’s 1994 ‘Live Through This’ album cover.
In the promo shots, which were shared to publicise her ‘Sour Prom’ concert film, Olivia is seen as a prom queen, wearing a tiara and smudged make-up, much like Courtney on her record.
“Spot the difference! #twinning,” she penned alongside both snaps side-by-side.
Commenting on the post, Olivia said, “Love u and live through this sooooo much,” prompting a tongue-in-cheek response from Courtney.
“Olivia – you’re welcome. My favourite florist is in Notting Hill, London! Dm me for deets! I look forward to reading your note,” she replied, before calling the star “rude” in a Facebook post.
Opening up on the exchange with Love in a new interview with GQ, the singer said: “To be honest, I’m just flattered that Courtney Love knows that I exist.”
The criticism doesn’t seem to have hurt Olivia’s career – she topped the charts internationally with the LP earlier this year and scored similar feats with its lead single and follow-up tracks Good 4 U and the Top 5 Deja Vu.
