Oasis are on track to land this week’s UK No. 1 album – as they battle to top the Singles Chart too.
The reunited group’s 30th anniversary reissue of their debut album ‘Definitely Maybe’ takes the top spot in the first look at the midweeks, with the set boasting a selection of previously-unheard demos from the original recording sessions.
It’s one of five Oasis albums projected to enter the Top 40; the band’s 2009 hits compilation ‘Time Flies… (1994-2009)’ is currently at No. 2, while their second LP ‘(What’s The Story) Morning Glory?’ (1995) is in at No. 5.
Additionally, 1998 B-sides compilation ‘The Masterplan’ is at No. 35, and the group’s third record ‘Be Here Now’ (1997) inches back into the Top 40 at No. 37.
Liam and Noel Gallagher – who will return to the stage for a run of headline shows in 2025 – are also eyeing a No. 1 single, with their 1994 track Live Forever taking on a trio of chart-toppers from Sabrina Carpenter for the title.
The US star currently looks set to make it two weeks at the top with Taste, followed by Please Please Please and Espresso at No. 2 and 3, respectively. All are lifted from her latest album ‘Short n’ Sweet’.
Live Forever is at No. 4 at this stage, marking a new best for the single, which peaked at No. 10 in 1994.
