Mel C could be hitting the radio waves for a new show all of her own.
The Spice Girls star reportedly impressed BBC bosses with her DJ set on Scott Mills and Chris Stark’s Radio 1 show earlier this month so much that the Wannabe star, 46, has been approached to host a regular slot.
“Mel had a Zoom meeting with one of the BBC’s top (bosses) shortly after her gig on Scott’s show because they saw so much potential in her,” an insider said.
“She not only has an incredible background in the industry, she’s got a wealth of music knowledge which bosses think the audience would lap up,” they told The Sun.
“She has done the occasional presenting job for Radio 2 in the past but they are looking at her getting a permanent slot.
“It’s early stages but Mel has said she’d be open to offers and would love to see if she could get on board.”
The report comes the Who I Am singer revealed during an appearance on The Late Late Show With James Corden last month that she’s been working on her DJ skills in lockdown.
“Like you guys, trying to be creative, entertaining people out there – we’re all stuck on lockdown aren’t we – I’ve been brushing up on my DJ skills, and just have some fun,” she said when asked what she’s been up to.
“Making time for the things that you often don’t have time to do.”
Mel wouldn’t be the first member of the group to land a regular radio slot – Baby Spice Emma Bunton hosted Heart Breakfast in the U.K. from 2013 until 2018 with Jamie Theakston.
