Mel B admits she’s been “kicked out” of the Spice Girls group chat for spilling details of the group’s forthcoming projects.
The singer is notoriously loose-lipped when it comes to the Spice Up Your Life hitmakers’ plans for the future and recently teased they’ll be back together later this year as they celebrate 30 years since Spice Girls was formed.
But in a new interview on ‘This Morning’, Mel admitted her fan-pleasing comments aren’t quite as well appreciated by the group and have even resulted in her being ejected from a WhatsApp group with Emma Bunton, Geri Horner, Victoria Beckham and Melanie C.
“That always happens to me, because I say things,” said Mel. “You know, I get so excited when it comes to Spice Girls, because it is 30 years. And, you know, we’ve got a lot to celebrate — the fact that we’re all still healthy and living life and all talking still. It’s nice, so I can’t say anything else to get myself kicked out!”
It was during a chat on ‘Loose Women’ that Mel recently teased a new reunion, when co-host Christine Lampard asked about their plans, saying: “We need happiness, we need empowerment back again, we need Spice Girls back basically.”
“Tell me about it,” Scary Spice replied, prompting Christine to press for more details.
“Oh no, we are definitely doing something,” she insisted. “I’m probably going to get told off, but I’ve said it. There you go.
“We’ll be announcing at some point later this year. Now I’m going to be in trouble.”
Marking 30 years to the day since they first auditioned, the group shared a video montage from the process on social media last month, soundtracked by their iconic hit Wannabe.
