Mary Wilson’s classic self-titled debut album is finally available to stream and download in its expanded format.

The album, originally released by the Supremes star in 1979, is a collaboration with producer Hal Davis and features the singles Red Hot, Midnight Dancer, Pick Up the Pieces and You’re the Light That Guides My Way.

Harry Styles returns with fourth studio album ‘Kiss All The Time. Disco, Occasionally.’

Despite being tipped for success, the LP was released one month after the infamous Disco Demolition Night and consequently failed to chart on the US Billboard 200 chart. It was subsequently a further 13 years before the star released a folllow-up.

Now, just weeks after Mary’s sad passing aged 76, the album has finally been issued on digital platforms with an additional eight bonus tracks, featuring rare mixes, the never-before-released Gus Dudgeon sessions and a brand new song Why Can’t We All Get Along.

In 1980, Mary headed to Europe to record with Elton John’s producer, Gus Dudgeon, who also worked with David Bowie, Joan Armatrading, Chris Rea and many more.

In her second autobiography, ‘Supreme Faith: Someday We’ll Be Together’, Mary recalled: “I was very excited about these four songs. It wasn’t the formula disco of my first album. Two of the songs were big ballads. The other two were rock and roll in the style of Tina Turner’s mid-eighties hits; I was certainly ahead of the time.”

It was one of the star’s final wishes to see the LP re-released and, in what was to be her final YouTube video, she teased the reissue of ‘Mary Wilson’ on streaming and download services.

“I finally decided how to work with Universal, and they are going to release new Mary Wilson recordings,” she said. “Yes! At last! At last.

“It was four wonderful songs that were never released… and I also have some other songs, some surprising new songs…

“Thank you Universal for chiming in with me and helping this come true. Hopefully some of that will be out on my birthday, March 6th… I’ve got my fingers crossed.”
