Marti Pellow has cancelled his upcoming UK tour dates under “strict orders” from his doctor.
The former Wet Wet Wet frontman had been scheduled to play dates across the UK this autumn, but in a statement he confirmed the shows will not got ahead due to health issues.
“It is with an incredibly heavy heart that I must announce the cancellation the Pellow Talk tour,” he penned. “Acting under strict orders from my doctors, I have been instructed not to continue, but to take a period of immediate rest.
“I am deeply disappointed and truly sorry to have to cancel the tour. My crew and I have been working hard to bring you an unforgettable experience, and it breaks my heart that we won’t be able to share it with you.
“However, I must prioritise my health and listen to my doctors’ orders. It’s not an easy decision, but it’s the right one. Every day I feel a little better and I promise to do everything in my power to get back to full strength as soon as possible.”
The Love Is All Around singer added: “I understand that this may be disappointing news, and I want you to know that I am just as disappointed as you are.
“Thank you for your continued support. I hope to see you all soon.”
The singer recently announced his 2024 ‘Popped In Souled Out’ run of shows, celebrating the group’s debut album of the same name, which is set to hit venues next spring.
“I decided if I was going to do it, it had to be something special, so I agreed to do a one-off at the London Palladium, an iconic venue,” Marti explained. “I thought it would be a great thing to do, as much for myself as for the fans.
“It was the fastest-selling ticket of my career. Then the fanbase came up from Scotland and said ‘If you don’t do this in Scotland, then don’t bother coming back.’ And that was just from family. So I put that on sale in Scotland, and once again it was the fastest-selling show of my career – it sold out the same morning.
“Then people demanded more shows. It’s such an exciting project for me. I’ve found it inspirational.”
He added: “‘Popped In Souled Out’ was my first successful record, it was my debut album, and it took me around the world. It facilitated all those dreams I had. It was the catalyst for everything.”
According to a press release, the tour will see Marti bring a truly unique experience for audiences, playing alongside the Love To Love orchestra and featuring hit singles such as Wishing I Was Lucky, Sweet Little Mystery, Angel Eyes and Temptation.
Tickets for the shows are on sale now.
