Mariah Carey is working on her 16th studio album, which will be released “some time in the future”.
The diva has just come off celebrating the 30th anniversary of her 1994 LP ‘Merry Christmas’, which spawned the modern-day holiday classic All I Want For Christmas Is You, and confirmed she has new material on the way.
Speaking to Best magazine, she said: “I have a lot I want to do. I’m busy.
“I’m writing new material, so there is new music and a new album coming some time in the future.
“I’m not sure when. I’m just enjoying the songwriting process.”
It’s been seven years since the Without You hitmaker released her most-recent studio LP, 2018’s ‘Caution’, and last year she kicked off 20th anniversary celebrations for her seminal 2005 album, ‘The Emancipation Of Mimi’.
On that record, she added: “’The Emancipation Of Mimi’ is another album I’m really proud of.
“It was kind of a comeback album for me at the time and it’s still one of my favourites.
“Celebrating and performing some of those songs this year was special.”
