Mariah Carey has paid tribute to the late Luther Vandross after their Endless Love collaboration became the diva’s 20th platinum selling single this week.
The track, which was featured and released as the lead single from the singer’s ninth studio album ‘Songs’, has passed one million sales, becoming Mariah’s 20th track to reach platinum or higher in the region.
And in a post on social media, the Hero hitmaker remembered her late collaborator while celebrating the achievement.
Sharing a video of the pair performing their single, a cover of the Diana Ross and Lionel Richie classic, she penned: “Blessed to have had the incredible opportunity to work with the incomparable Luther Vandross.. a moment I will NEVER forget.

“An artist that continues to inspire me and a beloved friend. Miss you Luther.”
Mariah recently returned with her Busta Rhymes collaboration, Where I Belong . The track is lifted from the rapper’s current LP ‘Extinction Level Event 2: The Wrath of God’, 18 years after their joint hit I Know What You Want.
It’s been three years since Mariah released her acclaimed 15th LP, ‘Caution’, and she returned last year with ‘The Rarities’ – a 15 track collection of unreleased recordings, B-sides and live cuts from throughout her career.
In our review of the album, Retro Pop said Mariah “more than proves she’s earned her ‘icon’ status” across the set.
