Marcella Detroit and Tony Hadley are among the stars lending their voices to a charity cover of Robbie Williams’ classic hit Angels.
The Shakespear’s Sister and Spandau Ballet stars are joined by famous faces including Jools Holland, Glen Matlock of Sex Pistols, Blondie star Clem Burke and David Bowie guitarist Earl Slick for the new recording, out now.
Recorded in tribute to late producer Steve Brown, proceeds from the track will support Angels of the Nation – a charity established to provide the families of frontline workers who have lost their lives during from Covid-19 pandemic with angel statues.
“Although I’d never had the pleasure of working with Steve I certainly knew of his incredible achievements and I’m humbled to be part of this tribute,” says Marcella.
“My heart goes out to the families of the NHS workers who lost their lives helping others; we can’t bring them back but we can remember and honour them.
“This charity was important to Steve and for his sake and the sake of the cause I hope it gets the recognition it deserves.”
