Lil Nas X has spoken out in support of Madonna after the Queen of Pop attracted backlash from fans over her response to the rapper’s BET Awards performance.
During the weekend show, Nas shared a passionate kiss with a dancer as part of his Egyptian-themed performance of Montero (Call Me By Your Name).
While fans praised the hitmaker for the moment, which occurred during Pride Month, Madonna took to her Instagram Stories on Monday to share her thoughts on the lip-locking.

Sharing a screenshot of Nas’ performance, alongside a still from her performance with Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera at the 2003 MTV VMAs – in which she kissed the Toxic singer – she wrote “#DidItFirst”.
And as fans of the Old Town Road star rushed to his defence, the hitmaker, who recently announced his debut album ‘Montero’, stepped into the crossfire, insisting Madonna didn’t mean any ill will with her post.
Beneath a post from Pop Crave referencing Madonna’s Instagram Story, he wrote: “Me and madonna are friends. It’s just a joke. [sic]”
Subsequently, fans shared a video from the Vogue singer’s ‘Madame X’ Tour, during which the two had a conversation in front of the audience.
“I wish you all of the best… Work hard, earn it baby,” she told Nas, who responded: “I promise you, I will.”
Madonna recently returned to the stage in New York after nursing a knee injury incurred during her last tour, and helped raise funds for local LGBTQ+ organisations in the city.
