Express Yourself is the latest Madonna single to be shared on digital platforms.
The 1989 track was released as the second single from the star’s fourth studio album ‘Like a Prayer’ and, ahead of it’s anniversary on Sunday, May 9, the Queen of Pop has shared the original five-track maxi-single online.
The release kicks off with the 7″ Remix of Express Yourself and also contains a Remix/Edit of the tune.
Three further remixes appear; the Non-Stop Express Mix, Local Mix and 11 minute Stop & Go Dubs.
Express Yourself was a UK and US Top 5 hit for Madonna – the second of three from the hit album, alongside Like a Prayer and Cherish.
It comes as Madonna continues to share rare mixes of her biggest hits online, in a campaign that appears to coincide with her return to Warner Records.
She most recently dropped her 2001 single What It Feels Like For a Girl, from the 2000 album ‘Music’, along with a bunch of original remixes.
Meanwhile, Madonna has been finishing up work on the final reshoots for her ‘Madame X’ concert film and documentary special. She supported her 2019 album with an impressive 75-date theatre jaunt, with stops across the US, mainland Europe and the UK through 2019/2020.
After wrapping the trek last March following eight shows in Paris, the I Rise singer was forced to take some necessary downtime, which included a number of surgeries following an ongoing knee complaint.
While details of the documentary have yet to be confirmed, according to reports Madonna’s taking the show to streaming giant Netflix.
In a recent Instagram post, LA-based production boutique VANDAL – which represents directing duo Sasha Kasiuha and VMA Award winner Nuno Xico – revealed the project in a since-deleted post.
Previewing upcoming “music-driven content”, they wrote: “First up is the Netflix documentary chronicling Madonna’s Madame X Tour.
“Coming from the world of film editorial and visual effects, respectively, Nuno and Sasha juxtapose traditional cinematic art form with cutting edge technologies and other mixed media, [to] create not just a story, but a sensation.”
Additionally, Madonna has been working on a biopic based on her life and career – however the project recently appeared to grind to a halt when collaborator Diablo Cody reportedly quitafter encountering difficulties working with the star.
