Macy Gray has a new album on the way, marking her first solo release in seven years.
The I Try hitmaker is hard at work on the follow-up to her 2018 LP, ‘Ruby’, and has teased plans to drop the project in September, when her ‘On How Life Is 25th Anniversary Tour’ reaches the UK.
Speaking to The Sun’s Bizarre column, she shared: “We’re probably going to drop a record when we’re in the UK. We’re in the middle of it and we want to drop some songs to see what everybody thinks.
“Then I will probably be able to put out an album by September.”
On the direction of her new material, Gray added: “I like raw music with less production to show my voice, so everything’s kind of stripped down. It’s really cool. I’m having fun.”
Having launched in Australia and New Zealand in 2024, the Still singer is set to play shows across the UK, Europe and North America this year, with the concerts celebrating a quarter of a century since the release of her debut album, ‘On How Life Is’.
