Eurovision winner Loreen is apparently keen to steal the crown again and is believed to be in talks for Melodifestivalen 2021.
According to reports, this will be Loreen’s fourth appearance in the annual song competition organised to find Sweden’s ESC participant. She previously won in 2012 with Euphoria – which also won the main Eurovision Song Contest.
Her last participation was in 2017 with Statements which, while garnering positive reviews, failed to qualify for that year’s Melodifestivalen final.
Speculation surrounding Loreen’s participation in Melodifestivalen 2021 was first published on Reddit and, earlier this week, website Scandipop revived the rumours.
“The Melodifestivalen artist rumour mill has coughed up its first murmur for 2021,” they tweeted. “Loreen is in talks to compete again, with a song called ‘DNA’, apparently.”

Online sources say the song will describe how a girl of Moroccan origin transformed into an artist from the western world.
Loreen shot to fame in 2004 when she took part in the Idol 2004 television competition, finishing fourth. She has since released two solo albums with a third expected soon.
Retro Pop has reached out to Loreen’s representatives for comment.
