Dance-pop duo London Boys’ legacy is being celebrated this Summer with a new Box Set collecting their classic recordings.
Discovered whilst working as dancers in Hamburg, Germany, Edem Ephraim and Dennis Fuller caught the attention of producer Ralf-René Maué, who instantly saw their potential for pop stardom.
The duo enjoyed several hits in Europe and Asia, and soon made waves in the UK thanks to Pete Waterman, who urged the London Boys’ British label WEA to release their single Requiem domestically.
It subsequently peaked at No. 4 on the charts and paved the way for the No. 2 smash London Nights.
Together with follow-up singles Harlem Desire and My Love, the tunes appeared on the pair’s debut album ‘The Twelve Commandments of Dance’, which peaked at No. 2 in the UK.
Their subsequent album ‘Sweet Soul Music’ failed to live up to the success of their debut, although it produced minor hits Freedom and Chapel of Love and charted internationally.
Both albums are included on ‘Requiem – The London Boys Story’, courtesy of Cherry Red Records, which features 5CDs from the pair, also including third studio album ‘Love 4 Unity’ plus two discs of bonus mixes.
It also includes a brand new, 2021 interview with writer/producer Ralf-René Maué, along with The London Boys Story liner notes.
‘Requiem – The London Boys Story’, due July 30, is available from Cherry Red Records.
