Lizzo crowned Janet Jackson the Queen of Pop in a recent Twitter post and Madonna fans aren’t happy.
The singer, who recently released Rumors as the lead track from her forthcoming album, shared a series of posts on the site naming her favourite musicians.
Alongside Michael Jackson, who she affirmed is the King of Pop, Lizzo named sister Janet as the Queen, in reference to her chart-topping career.

But Madonna fans weren’t happy, with many hitting up Twitter to share their thoughts on Lizzo’s post.
“If this is an inspirational tweet? OK… but facts are facts, Madonna is Queen of POP… So disrespectful to Madonna,” wrote on user, while another added: “Can’t believe a newcomer is so disrespectful to Madonna. And not her followers, this is from Lizzo herself?!? Not sure what she wanted to achieve with this tweet.”
Others offered more balanced takes on the issue, with one fan penning: “Madonna is the Queen of Pop yes but please do NOT disrespect THE LEGENDARY Janet Jackson wtf.”
Meanwhile, Madonna podcast ‘Inside the Groove’ shared: “Newsflash: it’s possible to like both Janet Jackson AND Madonna. Maybe equally. Maybe one more than the other. If someone’s opinion is different than yours, that’s OK.”
Elsewhere in her rundown, Lizzo named Justin Bieber and Britney Spears as the Prince and Princess of Pop, respectively, with Rihanna The Pop Princess.
Beyonce is Queen of Music, according to the Truth Hurts hitmaker.
Other nods go to Usher, who is named the King of R&B, while Aretha Franklin is Queen of Soul, Mariah Carey Queen of R&B, Mary J Blige Queen of Hip-Hop & Soul and Tina Turner Queen of Rock & Roll.
