Linda Nolan has vowed to keep “upbeat and positive” after receiving the devastating news that her cancer has spread.
The Nolans star was recently diagnosed with incurable liver cancer – the third time the illness has returned following her initial breast cancer diagnosis in 2006 and secondary cancer on her pelvis in 2017.
After an initial bout of chemotherapy treatment, however, the singer has been informed that more tumours have been found on her liver, leaving her “scared to death of dying”.
She tells the Daily Mirror: “I knew when I went into the room for my appointment because I could tell from the consultant’s demeanour. He turned to me and said the CT scan had shown something on my liver again. I asked if it was cancer and he said yes.
“It’s scary, I’m not going to lie. I try to be upbeat and positive but I had a really bad day when I got back,” adds the Chemistry hitmaker. “I told my sisters I was fine but when I got inside my house, I cried. I needed to have that cry because I’m scared to death of dying.”
Linda has subsequently been put on oral chemotherapy and, while she admits the diagnosis is heartbreaking, she’s not letting the illness prevent her from living her life.
According to the star, she walks her dog on a daily basis and she has started dating again, hinting: “I’ve been talking to somebody on a dating app. We met in the park, we took Betty for a walk to get to know each other.
“It was nice and I might see him again but I wouldn’t want to get too involved with anybody at the moment because I don’t know how long I’m going to be here.”
The tragic news comes after Linda’s sister Anne Nolan was diagnosed with stage three breast cancer in April. However, in December she shared happier news by revealing her cancer had “disappeared” following treatment.
The family tragically lost sibling Bernie to cancer in July 2013 aged 54.
Linda and Anne have both opened up on their cancer battle during their Quest Red TV series At Home with The Nolans – along with siblings Coleen, Maureen and Denise – which airs Tuesdays at 10 pm GMT.
