Lady Gaga is on track to debut at No. 1 on the UK Singles Chart with her latest single Disease.
In the first look at this week’s midweek update from Official Charts, the lead single from the US star’s forthcoming seventh studio album sits atop the rundown and, if it holds the position, will be her first UK chart-topper since her 2020 Ariana Grande collaboration Rain On Me.
Additionally, it marks her first solo No. 1 in 15 years, since her 2009 hit Bad Romance.
Gaga recently opened up about her new record, teasing: “The pop album is nothing like ‘Chromatica’. It’s a completely different record. I don’t know that I’m even ready to talk about it yet, but it’s coming out soon, and I will.
“What I would say is, it’s all for me. It’s meant to be ingested as a time in my life. And I’m also really excited about this idea that I don’t have to adhere to an era if I don’t want to. I can have a few going at once.
“That feels unhinged and more like me or Harley. Or whoever.”
Earlier this year, Gaga hinted towards her seventh studio album while celebrating her 38th birthday, writing in a post on Instagram: “I feel like my heart is bursting for my own health and MUSIC. I am writing some of my best music.
“I’ve been writing pop songs since I was a little girl [and] I can’t believe I still get to do what I love. This year will be an important and meaningful year for us I know.
“Music changes people lives im so honored I get to be a part of that in this life. [sic],” the Born This Way singer added.
