Kylie Minogue takes inspiration from her music career when working on her burgeoning wine empire.
The Love at First Sight hitmaker debuted her Kylie Wines collection last year and, reflecting on the venture, which has sold over one million bottles so far, she admits selling Malbec and releasing music are one and the same, as it’s all about her interactions with fans.
“What feels familiar is the connection with people,” explains the In Your Eyes star in an interview with The Sunday Times magazine. “I’m always giving bottles to friends because I want their opinions, or they’ll give me bottles they think I should try.
“There’s an interaction that is beautiful and fun. I never thought it would be called work.”
However, Kylie admits that, when she first came up with the idea for the brand, she didn’t know what she was doing and was grateful to have the support of those around her.
Speaking about the process to The Sunday Times magazine, she explained: “I’d no idea how it all worked. I lived with printouts of bottle shapes in my front room for a couple of weeks, trying to decide which one was right. It was all very cut and paste.”
Meanwhile, Kylie recently confirmed she’s set to re-release her record-breaking LP ‘DISCO’ with an expanded tracklist later this year.
Teasing she’s “set up a home studio” in Melbourne, the Get Outta My Way star confirmed she’s started to work on new tracks for a deluxe re-release.
“This year, we will do a repack of ‘DISCO’ and that instantly gets my neurons firing,” confirmed Kylie. “What else can we do? What will that lead to? There’s a lot to play with…”
Kylie most recently released Real Groove as the third official single from the album, teaming up with Dua Lipa for a brand new Studio 2054 remix of the tune, and according to her management there’s lots more to come.
Speaking to Music Week, BMG’s Alistair Norbury revealed the Magic star has a “hunger” for further success following three consecutive No.1 records since she signed to the company.
“There’s going to be more repertoire coming. This record lends itself very nicely to remixes, features and collaborations.”
In our review of ‘DISCO’, Retro Pop said the album, “comes just in time to help us dance through the darkness and back into the light.
“’DISCO’ is packed with upbeat, care-free ’70s inspired dance music – and, frankly, that’s just what we needed right now!”
