Kylie Minogue has become the first female artist to have a number one album in the UK in five separate decades
The pop legend’s 15th album DISCO topped the Albums Chart with 55,000 sales – also earning the hitmaker the best opening week of any new release in 2020 so far.
The LP, featuring the singles Say Something and Magic, ties Kylie with Paul McCartney, John Lennon, Paul Weller, Bruce Springsteen and David Gilmour, all of whom have released chart-toppers over five consecutive decades.
The Beatles, Elvis Presley, The Rolling Stones and Bob Dylan have also landed chart-toppers across five decades, though not consecutively.
“I’m lost for words,” admits Kylie, who could be set for a UK No. 1 single with the BBC Radio 2 All Stars’ Children in Need single next week. “Thank you to everyone who has supported this album. I’m so touched that it’s made its way to your hearts. I love it.”

DISCO’s success placed Kylie ahead of Little Mix, whose album Confetti debuted at number two in the Official Album Chart.
