The forthcoming musical based on Kylie Minogue’s pop classics is taking “forever” to finish, according to the singer.
While the star admits that progress is being made on the production, she’s stunned by how slow the overall process is.
“When I got locked into doing a musical everyone said, ‘It takes a long time’,” Kylie tells The Sun.
“I remember thinking ‘Really? We make albums, go on tour, get things done’… No, it takes forever. It’s a work in progress.”
The Magic singer recorded her latest album DISCO during lockdown and, after building a studio at her London home, she previously confessed the recording process was a bit chaotic due to the pandemic.
“I think if there was a kind of fly-on-the-wall camera, it would’ve been a comedy,” laughed the star.
“I mean, me trying to wrangle the sound absorber, which bit goes where, lots of googling YouTube tutorials and calling a friend.”
The musical is one of many projects Kylie’s working on – with the singer recently confirming plans to hit the studio with Jessie Ware in 2021 for a brand new collaboration.
It comes after her 15th album DISCO shattered records, landing her at the top the UK charts and becoming the first female artist to score a No. 1 album across five consecutive decades.
In our review of the album, Retro Pop said DISCO is “packed with upbeat, care-free ’70s inspired dance music – and, frankly, that’s just what we needed right now”.
Kylie’s latest album, DISCO, is out now.
