Kylie Minogue has scored her second UK Top 20 single of the year with the title song from her forthcoming 16th album.
The electro-pop smash came in at No. 19 in this week’s UK Albums Chart, following its release last Thursday, after her previous single, Padam Padam climbed to a peak of No. 8, becoming her most-successful release in over a decade.
In doing so, it marks the first time Kylie has earned multiple Top 20 singles from one album in over 10 years (since ‘Aphrodite’ [2010]).
Speaking about her latest record, out September 22, Kylie said in a press release: “I started this album with an open mind and a blank page. Unlike my last two albums there wasn’t a ‘theme’, it was about finding the heart or the fun or the fantasy of that moment and always trying to service the song.
“I wanted to celebrate each song’s individuality and to dive into that freedom. I would say it’s a blend of personal reflection, club abandon and melancholic high.”
Discussing the recording process, she added: “I loved being back in the studio with my collaborators but was also able to benefit from remote recording, which we have all got used to – my mobile studio never left my side for a year and a half!
“The album is a mix of songs I have written and songs which really spoke to me. Making this album helped me navigate challenging times and celebrate the now. I hope it accompanies listeners on their own journeys and becomes part of their story.”
Following the album release, Kylie will launch her first-ever Las Vegas residency at the the Voltaire nightclub at The Venetian on November 4 before returning to the UK in December to film her forthcoming ‘An Audience With’ special at the Royal Albert Hall, London.
