Kylie Minogue has “done a lot of songs” with Scissor Sisters star Jake Shears – but she’s warned him against sharing any of them publicly.
The star spoke with i-D about her forthcoming album Disco, when the subject of the unreleased recording sessions came up. Confirming the pair had a vault of tracks, Kylie confessed: “I don’t even know how many. I don’t even know if I have them all.
“He’ll have them. And he knows that he better not upload them or he’ll be in trouble,” she shared. “His finger has hovered above ‘Enter’ a few times. He’s such a good friend of mine.”
A couple of collaborations between the duo have already been released: Jake co-wrote and co-produced her 2004 hit I Believe In You, and also co-wrote Too Much for her 2010 LP, Aphrodite.
They’re also notably good friends, with Kylie appearing alongside Scissor Sisters during their 2010 Glastonbury set and Jake appearing as a guest mentor during her stint on The Voice UK in 2014.
However, there are no plans for them to work together on Disco, as Kylie confirmed the album is free of collaborations.
“I haven’t at this stage. And there’s actually nothing planned,” the Say Something hitmaker said when asked whether fans could expect duets on the record. “But I do think that with more people being able to do remote recording, it could very well be possible.
“I genuinely love collaborations,” she gushed. “It’s better to be able to perform together and do live performances together. There’s an unspoken understanding of what it is to be an artist and performer.”
