Kylie Minogue still feels impostor syndrome as a singer.
The star became a chart sensation in the late ‘80s after initially finding fame in Australian soap ‘Neighbours’.
She’s gone on to become the country’s highest-selling female artist ever but, speaking to Jools Holland, the In Your Eyes star admitted she’s still riddled with self-doubt.
“It used to drive me crazy and I can still hear the voices in my head, it’s terrible,” she said. “I’ve got to let go of it – ‘She acts, she doesn’t sing, you’re not a singer’.
“It would never make any sense to me, so I really had to forge my path through and find my way and try to not listen to that.
“I had to really believe in myself that you can do more than one thing.”
Despite her insecurities, Kylie recently smashed UK chart records with her 15th album ‘DISCO’, which topped the Albums Chart and made Kylie the first female artist to score a number one album across five consecutive decades.
Later this week, Kylie will release ‘DISCO: Guest List Edition‘, featuring collaborations with Years & Years, Jessie Ware, Gloria Gaynor and Dua Lipa, along with the star’s ‘Infinite Disco’ livestream show on DVD and Blu-ray.
The album, due November 12, is available to pre-order as a 3CD, 1 DVD, 1 BLU-RAY set, along with 2CD and 3LP editions. Also on offer is a 2LP coloured vinyl of ‘DISCO’ featuring 12 extended mixes.
