Kimberly Wyatt is still on board for Pussycat Dolls’ planned reunion tour next year.
The group reformed in 2019 and dropped their comeback track React in early 2020, with a planned tour booked for summer of that year.
Amid the pandemic, the dates were pushed, and the future of the comeback has since been brought into question after group founder Robin Antin sued lead singer Nicole Scherzinger.
However, speaking to Sky News, Kimberley insisted the trek is still going ahead, and she’s set aside September 2022 for the reunion tour.
“I hate that this situation is happening, but I’m just going to stay optimistic,” she said.
“Nobody’s told me anything but the fact that we are going to be on tour September of next year, so I’m going to stay optimistic about that and sort of lay my heart into it because I’ve done everything I can to get this band back together.
“We just started and so I’m just going to continue to believe that we will figure it out, make it happen and be back on stage next year.
“I think we owe it to our fans, we owe it to ourselves – so as much as I have no control over the situation. All I can do is just manifest and hope for the best.”
She added: “I’m in a tricky situation… this stuff has nothing to do with me.
“It has very much to do with the girls, and just figuring out that ultimately when we get on stage, I want everybody to feel good.
“I want them to want to be there, and I want to live the dream and nothing else matters. Like I hate drama.
“I think it’s so unnecessary, but maybe necessary for others, and I hope they can get the drama out the way so we could go and live the dream.”
According to papers filed in the Los Angeles Superior Court, Robin and Nicole came to a deal for a reunion tour and a new Pussycat Dolls business venture in late 2019.
While the Stuckwitchu singer originally agreed to receive 49 per cent of potential earnings, Robin says Nicole now “refuses to participate in the tour” and has “demanded to renegotiate the terms” of their agreement.
However, in response to the filing, Nicole’s lawyer claimed it’s a “desperate attempt to divert blame for her own failures by trying to impose obligations on Nicole that simply do not exist”.
“Nicole loves and respects the PCD fans and hopes to one day be back on stage performing the group’s amazing hits for them,” they added. “Sadly, this will not happen under these circumstances.”
