Kim Wilde celebrates four decades in music with her massive ‘Pop Don’t Stop: Greatest Hits’ box set.
The ‘80s icon shot to the top of the charts with her debut single Kids in America – co-written by dad Marty Wilde and brother Ricky Wilde – in 1981 and went on to score massive hits with Cambodia, You Came and the US No. 1 single You Keep Me Hangin’ On.
Looking back on her incredible legacy, the singer has unveiled her latest collection, with the massive seven disc set featuring singles, album cuts, B-sides, remixes and new tracks, along with exclusive video content.
In the streaming age, the idea of a Greatest Hits collection is becoming increasingly redundant, but if ever there was a template for releases going forward it’s this.
Not only does ‘Pop Don’t Stop’ bring together all of Kim’s releases – including global chart hits and limited releases – it also marks the first time several tracks have been issued on CD, making the set ideal for longtime fans and new listeners.
That’s proven by the running order, with lesser-known single The Second Time launching the set and fan favourites like Million Miles Away, Can’t Get Enough (Of Your Love) and Who Do You Think You Are coming early in the rundown.
While the non-chronological tracklist has been brought into question by some fans, it works and highlights the consistent quality of Kim’s output as a singer-songwriter over the past four decades.
Meanwhile, the inclusion of two new tracks – Shine On with Boy George and the Tom Aspaul collaboration You’re My Karma – looks to the future, proving 40 years into her career, Kim Wilde remains at the top of her game.
‘Pop Don’t Stop: Greatest Hits’ is available on standard 2CD as well as a 5CD + 2DVD box set
