It’s been 40 years since a 20-year-old Kim Wilde debuted with the iconic Kids In America, and she’s set to celebrate four decades in style with a brand new retrospective.
Speaking exclusively to Retro Pop, Kim’s brother, producer and co-writer Ricky Wilde, revealed the ‘Pop Don’t Stop – Greatest Hits’ collection, released via Cherry Red Records this Summer, will feature all of the star’s singles plus a handful of new songs.
Teasing the project will be “incredibly positive and very collectible,” and will feature cuts from across Kim’s four-decade career, Ricky also reveals the release will feature two brand new collaborations.
“There will be a few new tracks on the Greatest Hits. We’ve got two duets,” he shares. “One of them is Boy George. He’s guested on a track that Kimmy and I wrote with Fredrik Thomander in Italy.
“It’s a beautiful track and I really look forward to hearing everybody’s reactions on that.
“There’s another track that we’ve got on the album that we’re doing with a new guy singer called Tom Aspaul,” adds Ricky.
“Tom is going to be guesting on one of the other tracks, which has a kind of George Michael vibe to it.
“So it’s exciting times, we’re still working with great people and still doing wonderful things.”
Kim previously collaborated with Boy George on Name and Number, taken from his new album ‘Cool Karaoke, Vol. 1’, and she appears on a new version of W.M. on Tom’s ‘Black Country Discotheque‘ remix album.
While a new studio album from Kim isn’t currently in the works, Ricky hints a duets album with a variety of guest stars is “very possible”.
“We’ve got so many wonderful friends in the industry and I know there’s so many people that would love to work with Kim,” he says.
“And I know, there’s loads of people that Kim would love to work with as well. So that’s a very, very much a possibility.”
