Kelly Clarkson has claimed Olivia Rodrigo as “the new Alanis Morissette”
Speaking on ‘The Kelly Clarkson Show’, the presenter compared the vampire hitmaker to Alanis as they both shared their admiration for the Ironic hitmaker.
“When ‘Sour’ came out, I was like, ‘Oh this chick is like the new Alanis for her generation’. You’re like the new Alanis for your generation,” beamed Kelly. “It was that kind of impact of the [record].
“You’re young to be a fan of hers! Do you have the coolest mom ever or something?” she added, with Olivia responding: “I do have the coolest mom ever. I remember hearing You Oughta Know on the radio and being 12 years old and being like, ‘What is this? She can say the line about the theatre?’ That’s insane!”
In the original song, Alanis sings: ‘Is she perverted like me? / Would she go down on you in a theatre?’.
