Kate Bush, Tina Turner and Chaka Khan are among the 2021 list of nominees to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
The Go-Go’s, Mary J. Blige, Dionne Warwick and Carole King also feature on the bill of 16 nominees, which was announced on Wednesday (Feb 10).
In order to qualify for the honour, the Hall requires an individual artist or band to have released their first commercial recording at least 25 years before their first nomination.
JAY-Z and the Foo Fighters – another two nominees – both released debut albums in 1996, making them eligible for the first time ever.
Nominees making their first appearance on the ballot despite being previously eligible include Fela Kuti and Warwick, in addition to Iron Maiden and the Go-Go’s.
Others on the list include Devo, Todd Rundgren, the New York Dolls, LL Cool J and Rage Against the Machine.
Grohl has already been inducted as a member of Nirvana, while Turner’s induction would make her only the second woman to earn two spots in the Hall of Fame.
“This remarkable ballot reflects the diversity and depth of the artists and music the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame celebrates” said John Sykes, the chairman of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation.
“These Nominees have left an indelible impact on the sonic landscape of the world and influenced countless artists that have followed them.”
Votes can be cast daily on the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame website through April 30.
The class of 2021 will be announced in May, with organisers hoping to host a live induction ceremony late 2021.
