Joni Mitchell has released a visual for her classic hit River.
The holiday song, which was originally released in 1971 as part of her seminal album ‘Blue’, has become a staple of the season and frequently makes appearances on compilations and playlists.
Marking its 50th anniversary, the animated visual features a series of black-and-white watercolours, which segue into actual colour as the clip progresses.
As the song unfolds, the frozen landscape becomes a vibrant green, with the flowing river aptly turning blue.
It was directed by Matvey Rezanov of Skazka Studios
River has been covered by James Taylor, Ellie Goulding, Barry Manilow, Sam Smith, Sarah McLachlan, k.d. Lang, Madeleine Peyroux and others.
