Johnny Marr has announced a UK headline tour for April 2024.

In support of his forthcoming best-of collection, the musician will play shows across the country, launching at Newcastle’s O2 City Hall on April 2 with 10 shows through April 14.

It arrives ahead of the release of ‘Spirit Power: The Best Of Johnny Marr’, celebrating 10 years of his solo career.

Tickets go on sale Friday (October 27) at 10am BST. The full list of dates is below.

APRIL 2024

2 – O2 City Hall, Newcastle

3 – Barrowlands, Glasgow

5 – O2 Academy, Leeds

6 – Olympia, Liverpool

7 – Civic Halls, Wolverhampton

9 – Great Hall, Cardiff

“It’s a conversation I have from time to time with [Pet Shop Boys’] Chris Lowe, about how much harder it is to write songs that you want to listen to in the daytime,” says Marr of the material on his new release.

“It’s easier to do something that’s perceived as cool if it’s a bit moody. But, for me, the mission with these records was to make songs that you could listen to on the way to school, on the way to the gym, on the way back from work – you know, in the way that you had with, say, Blondie.”

It encompasses songs from across his four solo LPs – 2013’s ‘The Messenger’, 2014’s ‘Playland’, 2018’s ‘Call The Comet’ and 2022 double album ‘Fever Dreams Pts 1-4, along with non-album single releases Armatopia and The Priest (feat. Maxine Peake), two brand new songs, and a cover version of Depeche Mode’s I Feel You, released for Record Store Day 2015.
