Jessica Simpson has released a cover version of Nothing But Thieves’ 2017 hit Particles.
The singer dropped the track on November 11 – shortly after celebrating four years of sobriety in a social media post.
Alongside a still from the video for the stripped-back cover version, she penned: “The whole idea of music heals is an honest truth to me. This song saved a broken piece of me.”
It’s Jessica’s first music since she released six tracks with her memoir ‘Open Book’ in 2020 and, reflecting on her journey, the hitmaker confessed that at her lowest, she decided “to take back my light, show victory over my internal battle of self respect, and brave this world with piercing clarity”.
“Personally, to do this I needed to stop drinking alcohol because it kept my mind and heart circling in the same direction and quite honestly I was exhausted,” she wrote. “I didn’t love myself. I didn’t respect my own power. Today I do.
“I have made nice with the fears and I have accepted the parts of my life that are just sad. I own my personal power with soulful courage. I am wildly honest and comfortably open. I am free.”
