‘Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat’, starring Jason Donovan and Alexandra Burke, has been pulled after a member of the company tested positive for coronavirus.
According to a statement from the production, the rest of the cast and crew has tested negative, but the positive case has resulted in Sunday’s shows being suspended.
While further details have yet to be confirmed, it could be the case that further shows will also be scrapped, as government guidelines force those that have been in contact with positive cases into isolation.
The full statement reads: “The producers of ‘Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat’ at the London Palladium are very sorry to confirm that today’s performances have had to be suspended.
“There has been a single positive case of Covid identified within the company, and whilst the rest of the cast and backstage team have also been tested and reported negative tests, the government’s track and trace regulations now force all close contacts into isolation, resulting in the cancellation of performances.”
Although the extent of the number of shows affected has yet to be confirmed, ticket holders will be given the option to exchange their tickets for a different performance, or have them refunded altogether.
“We understand how disappointing this news will be and we are very sorry for the inconvenience it may cause,” the statement continues.
“For now, we would like to thank you for your patience and understanding, and we look forward to welcoming you to the London Palladium soon.”
