Japan’s third album, ‘Quiet Life’, is getting a deluxe box set reissue.

Featuring the UK Top 20 single Quiet Life and All Tomorrow’s Parties, the album followed the standalone, electronic dance, Giorgio Moroder-produced Life in Tokyo, which deviated from the glam rock style of their first two releases.

While Moroder wasn’t ultimately chosen to produce the LP, it builds on the sound of its predecessor and became a key record in leading the new wave sound of the ’80s.

Originally released in 1979, the reissue comes courtesy of BMG across a number of formats.

The ‘Quiet Life’ box features three CDs and a 180g half-speed mastered vinyl LP, including a new 2020 remaster of the album across both formats. Also included is a disc of alternate mixes, remixes, singles and rarities, which features the four-track EP, ‘Live in Japan’.

The third CD in the box set is an expanded live set, taken from the same March, 1980 Budokan show.

Also being released is a standalone version of the album, on CD, black and red vinyl.

The reissues feature restored original album artwork, new sleeve notes – including contributions from band members and producer – and rare photography.

Pre-order the collection from Japan’s official store to receive the exclusive nine-track ‘Life in Tokyo’ CD single, featuring further remixes from the ‘Life in Tokyo’ release that aren’t included in the box set.

Quiet Life will be reissued on March 5th, 2021 – get yours on CD and vinyl here.
