Janet Jackson has opened up about her relationship with Justin Timberlake in her new documentary special.
The That’s The Way Love Goes hitmaker suffered an infamous wardrobe malfunction at the Super Bowl halftime show in 2004, during which the singer’s breast was briefly exposed.
However, in ‘JANET’ – which aired on Lifetime and A&E in the US and is streaming in the UK on NOW and Sky Documentaries – the superstar maintained she is still “good friends” with the NSYNC hitmaker.
“Honestly, this whole thing was blown way out of proportion,” she explained. “And, of course, it was an accident that should not have happened, but everyone is looking for someone to blame and that’s got to stop.
“Justin and I are very good friends, and we will always be very good friends. We spoke just a few days ago.
“He and I have moved on, and it’s time for everyone else to do the same.”
Speaking with her brother Randy Jackson, Janet revealed Justin once asked her if he should release a public statement, sharing: “We talked once and (Justin) said, ‘I don’t know if I should come out and make a statement’.
“I said, ‘Listen, I don’t want any drama for you. They’re aiming all of this at me.’ So I said, ‘If I were you, I wouldn’t say anything’.”
Last year, Justin apologised to Janet and his ex-girlfriend Britney Spears in a statement on Instagram, insisting: “I can do better and I will do better.”
