Taking to the stage, Jackson’s could be heard saying: “Now, they call me Diamond Black… you’ll get to know me soon.”
Although no new music was premiered during the set, the nod to her planned ‘Black Diamond’ album – which was announced, alongside a tour, in early 2020, before being scrapped amid the Covid-19 crisis – didn’t go unnoticed.
Notably, the album would be her first since 2015’s ‘Unbreakable’ and her first new solo material since her 2018 Daddy Yankee-featuring single ‘Made For Now’.
In her original announcement for the LP and tour, Jackson said: “Black Diamonds are the toughest of all the diamonds, the hardest to cut. I see that as the hardest to hurt or destroy.
“There is a lot that I have endured. I see myself as a Black Diamond in its purest form. I’m a rock, I have ruff edges but I keep moving forward. I want to show you my strength as well as give you strength.”
