Steps star Ian ‘H’ Watkins and the Queen of Hi-NRG Hazell Dean have both secured spots on the 2020 Pride Power List.
The singers were unveiled in 21st and 100th place, respectively, on DIVA’s countdown of “those in the LGBTQI community – and our allies – who
are dedicated to working towards true LGBTQI equality and inclusion.”
H’s appearance on Dancing on Ice earlier this year no doubt helped bump him up the list, after the star insisted on being part of the show’s first same-sex pairing with professional skater Matt Evers.
The Deeper Shade of Blue star also has male dance partners during Steps’ live shows and, as the list states, has been open about his sexuality and active in campaigning LGBTQ+ rights since 2007.
Meanwhile, Hazell is a loud and proud ally of the LGBTQ+ community, and speaks out often on her online platforms in support of equality and acceptance for all.
As the list notes, the Searchin’ (I Gotta Find a Man) star made her gay club performance debut at Heaven in 1984, and has gone on to perform at Pride events annually worldwide.
She is also a patron of Pride in Surrey, and is active in fundraising efforts to support the organisation – including our RETRO POP X Hazell Dean merchandise, of which 50% of profits go to Pride in Surrey.
